Tron was produced by Disney in 1982 with Jeff Bridges playing the lead role of Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer and video game developer who is transported inside the software world of a mainframe computer where he interacts with programs in his attempt to escape.

The film received positive reviews from critics, who praised its groundbreaking visuals and acting. Tron received nominations for Best Costume Design and Best Sound at the 55th Academy Awards however it was later disqualified from the Best Visual Effects category because at the time the Academy felt that using computer animation was cheating!
